Automatic Transmissions shift between gears automatically to optimize driving, and changes gears based on the driver's throttle pedal, vehicle speed, engine speed, and vehicle load. Typical automatic transmissions have 4-5 forward gear ratios, a Reverse, Park, and Neutral gear. Shifting gears occur automatically once the car is in Drive and there is no need for a clutch pedal or gear shift like there is in a Manual Transmission. Automatic transmission repair is complicated based on all the components that make it up, and you need to have any automatic transmission issues properly assessed by auto mechanics. Call 419-782-7827 to talk to the mechanics of Northwest Automotive LLC about your transmission problems.
There are clutches in both automatic and manual transmission cars, and different types of clutches. When shifting gears, the clutch engages and disengages from the flywheel and transfers the torque through the transmission. Clutches should help your vehicle start and shift gears smoothly. The clutch in your car receives a lot of wear and can eventually wear out. If your clutch begins slipping irregularly or is making noises that are raising suspicion, contact Northwest Automotive LLC to see if clutch replacement is necessary.
Four-Wheel Drive Transmission
A four-wheel (4x4) drive vehicle has differential gears, both front and rear axles, and a transfer case attached to the transmission. Four-wheel drive vehicles demand maintenance on the transfer case, front differentials, rear differentials, and transmission fluids. Visit us on 1735 Spruce St for service on your four-wheel drive transmission services.
Front-Wheel Drive Transmission
If your vehicle has Front-wheel drive, the engine drives the front wheels only. The power is routed through the transmission to the final drive where it is split and sent to the two front wheels through the drive axles. The engine, transmission, and additional hardware is all located in the front of the car. If you are in need, Northwest Automotive LLC of Defiance, OH will gladly repair front-wheel drive transmission vehicles.
Driving a vehicle with a Manual Transmission requires using the clutch pedal and gear shift to manually shift gears based on the speed of the vehicle. Manual transmissions have been built with anywhere from two to eight gears. Front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive are the two main configurations for manual transmissions. Typically, manual transmissions require less maintenance then automatic transmissions. At Northwest Automotive LLC, our auto mechanics can diagnose your vehicle and then recommend the transmission repair or transmission service you need to ensure safety and improve the lifetime of your vehicle.
In motor vehicles, the transmission usually refers to the gear box, which uses gears and gear trains to transmit speed and tourque from a rotating power source to another device. You can have your car's transmission replaced with a new, rebuilt, remanufactured, repaired or used transmission. For more information contact Northwest Automotive LLC in Defiance, OH. Our experienced service technicians can help you make the best decision for your vehicle and your wallet.

A transfer case is a part of a four wheel drive system found in four wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles. The transfer case receives power from the transmission and sends it to both the front and rear axles. This can be done with a set of gears, but the majority of transfer cases manufactured today are chain driven. The transfer case is connected to the transmission and also to the front and rear axles by means of drive shafts.Trust the automotive experts at Northwest Automotive LLC for all your transmission repairs.
Early Saturday morning, we were heading home to Minnesota and our car started making grinding noises. Called Tim and he said bring it in. Discovered we needed a new air conditioner compressor and he installed it and had us back on the road right away. It was a 12 hour drive home and we felt happy, cool and comfortable. Thanks Tim!
Extremely trustworthy and knowledgeable, with fair rates. Absolutely recommend this shop! You won't be disappointed.
My family has always gone to Northwest Automotive. We enjoy their great work, great deals, and friendly staff. I needed an alternator on an emergency. The shop owner found me an alternator after hours and willingly installed it to get us back on the road at a reasonable price. Always my first choice when recommending professional automotive repair.
Thanks so much for making our car safe, and doing it for an afforadable price.
The guys here are awesome! The fuel pump in my 99 Firebird went bad. They had my car towed to their place, diagnosed the problem, and had the fuel pump and the serpentine belt fixed within a few days. Will be recommending this place to all my family and friends!
My daughter's car was making a horrible clacking noise from the engine. I trailered it to Northwest Automotive, and they took one listen and knew it was mechanical in nature. The worked really hard to quote a good price, find a used engine, and even offered to arrange financing. We chose not to repair the car at this time, and they didn't charge us for the effort they put in. I would definitely recommend these guys for any auto repair need.
My experience at Northwest Automotive has always been good. They have always gotten me in quickly and fixed whatever I needed for a reasonable price! I would definitely recommend doing business there. Specializing in engine repairs and all your other needs!
Our van's check engine light came on Friday evening. We planned to leave Sunday after church for vacation. So, Saturday morning I call up Northwest Automotive to see if they could fit me in. They said come on in. When I arrived, they ran the standard diagnostic test to find what tripped the light. It turned out to be an extremely simple fix, and they had me back on the road in 10 minutes, which was fantastic because I had two toddlers in tow. The best part? They charged me nothing! At dealerships, I've paid $50+ for them just to run this test.
Great service and great guys that know what they're doing. And, they get it done fast and right!
Awesome work! These guys know automobiles and have all the professional tools to do any job, big or small. Take your vehicle in or give them a call. OUTSTANDING WORK!
